Daisy Cooks TAPAS!
As the host of the popular PBS series Daisy Cooks!, Daisy Martinez has become a familiar face in most households. Her first cookbook, Daisy Cooks! Latin Flavors That Will Rock Your World (Hyperion 2005), was an IACP nominee and won the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards’ Best Latino Cuisine Cookbook in the World. She is working on her second cookbook and a brand new show. Martinez has been a model and an actress. After culinary school, she worked with Lidia Bastianich on the set of her award-winning PBS show, Lidia’s Italian- American Kitchen, and started a small catering business, The Passionate Palate, which is still in operation. Her broad knowledge of Latin cuisines has helped mark her as an important cross-cultural chef. She is a regular contributor to Every Day with Rachel Ray, Siempre Mujer, and Reader’s Digest Selecciones. Chef Martinez has also worked with ICE for several years in partnership with The Committee for Hispanic Children and Families, for an inter-borough New York City High School cooking competition with a $15,000 scholarship going towards tuition at ICE. In this live demonstration, she will wow the audience with tapas that include Chicken Croquettes, Shrimp Ajillo, Cheese Bunuelos and Roasted Red Potatoes with Aioli.
